Contracts from corporations can be a great source of revenue for qualified small businesses. To assist California-based small businesses tap into this opportunity, the Orange County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is collaborating with a broad range of corporations, such as Philadelphia Gear, to expand their supplier base of diverse qualified sub-contractors. Only pre-qualified businesses will have an opportunity to attend the Contracting Outreach Conference.

Background

Philadelphia Gear was founded over a century ago to provide state-of-the-art gearing for the emerging industries of Pennsylvania. From those modest beginnings in 1892, Philadelphia Gear has earned a global reputation for expertise in power transmission solutions for the world’s Energy, Infrastructure and Defense industries.

Philadelphia Gear is initiating an aggressive nation-wide effort to expand its small business sub-contracting approved preferred vendor’s list due to recent awards received or expected for several primary or secondary military contracts that require compliance with small business planning targets. At this time our small business plan targets amount to $38M and will cover the following commodity groups: Fabrications; Machining; Castings; Fasteners; Fittings; Hardware; Heat Treatment & Lumber.

Required: Capability Statement

Qualified small businesses must submit a Capability Statement to Linda Hoitt for review. Suppliers must follow instructions. ANY STATEMENTS SENT DIRECTLY TO PHILADELPHIA GEAR WILL BE REJECTED.

With each accepted Capability Statement, ticket(s) will be issued for attendance. Only ticket holders will be admitted.

All accepted Capability Statements will be provided to Philadelphia Gear and other participants at the Small Business Manufacturers Outreach event to encourage collaboration. By submitting your Capability Statement for consideration, you are authorizing the release of your Capability Statement to the above recipients.

Qualified Manufacturers Sought

Philadelphia Gear is seeking small businesses for fabrication, casting, heat treating, machining and manufacturing fasteners and fittings for its new federal contracting program.

Businesses with these NAICS codes are of particular interest:

  • Small Disadvantaged Businesses or 8 (a) with primary NAICS codes 332510; 332912; 423710; 423840;
     
  • Woman Owned Small Business with primary NAICS codes 332811; 423310;
     
  • Veteran & Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses with primary NAICS codes 332510; 332912; 423710; 423840;
     
  • Small Businesses with a primary NAICS code of 332312.

All businesses will be required to meet quality controls standards which are described in the attached documents.

These forms, although not expected or required to be submitted prior to the Manufacturers Outreach event, will be required for qualification as an Approved Vendor for Philadelphia Gear.
